f you don’t know-PaperPie (formerly Usborne Books & More) recently added a product line from SmartLab toys to their catalog. They are fabulous. Now I know you are probably thinking I’m biased but, as a mom with a child who doesn’t love science and is obsessed with sports, I can tell you they are definitely heaven sent. They are an amazing resource, boredom buster, and learning tool. In fact, they are the only stem-based toys that my child is interested in. Smart lab toys make science fun!
They have won more than 50 of the toy industry’s most prestigious awards, including multiple Oppenheim Platinum awards and the Good Housekeeping Best Toy awards.

A couple of our favorites are:
KITCHEN SCIENCE LAB
Each toy comes with a kid-friendly book (guide) to do science! Each book contains fun facts that not only educate but promote exploration. All experiments are fact checked by experts and when I tell you they are fun for adults too! I mean it and know it firsthand.
“Can water move uphill? What’s the structure of a bubble? What makes slime so slimy? With Kitchen Science Lab, young scientists can find out the answers to these questions and more as they make alien eyeballs, marshmallow monsters, invisible ink, marbled paper, and glowing slimes! This exciting science kit includes a sink that can be used for both experiments and storage, and a shelf that doubles as a test-tube rack. The 36-page science book features 40 science experiments. Kitchen Science Lab is a great parent-child activity kit and is the perfect introduction to basic kitchen chemistry.”
The description on the website is perfect to describe this awesome toy!
My son is obsessed with this kit! We opened it last week and have already done ½ of the experiments! Including a 24 hour experiment where we watched test tube colors change with a little help from some food coloring and a paper towel! All of the tools you need are included BUT a few household items do need to be provided!
Spy School: Sneaky Surveillance
“This science kit gives kids the tools and tips they need to learn how to be a master spy — but it doesn’t take itself too seriously. The cleverly disguised decoy box contains cool spy tools, including a spy-decoder periscope (disguised as a pencil box), a microphone (disguised as a yo-yo), rear-view spy glasses, collapsible spy binoculars, a magnifying loupe, signal mirrors, a masked viewing prop (holes in the back of the book to spy through), and a hilarious in-world book with spy missions and challenges to test your skills.”
Again, another great description on the website!
I was a federal agent, so this kit is near and dear to my heart! I have long since “retired” but this kit is fun as it gives kids the tools, they need to learn how to be a spy.
