Parenting is confusing!
One second, you’re questioning all your decisions and the next second you’re thankful you made those decisions. 💙
One minute you’re wondering why you move heaven and earth to do all the things longing for a break and the next minute you’re adjusting your spring break plans to get your kid to Dallas to attend a special camp. 💙
One day you’re giving a lecture promising to take away privileges for aggressive behavior on the ice and the next day you’re saying fight for the puck. 💙
One month you’re making a deal with your 6-year-old: “learn how to skate and I will let you play hockey.” You know that will never happen!! Then the next month you are driving him to learn to skate classes. 💙
One year you are thinking parenting a seven-year-old is HARD and then you read a parents.com poll which found that parenting an eight-year-old was voted as the hardest year by parents polled. 😂
I can’t get this quote out of my head: “Hard Work Beats Talent When Talent Doesn’t Work Hard.” My child has ZERO natural talent, but he’s without a doubt the hardest worker on the ice. He is coachable and he gives 110 % every second, every minute, every day, every month and over the last year…

Colton-we are so proud of you and that championship win last night has nothing to do with it! 🏆 Don’t get me wrong the win is a fun bonus but regardless of that medal you have proved to be unstoppable. I have ZERO doubt your strong will…while it has me questioning my sanity daily…is the reason you go out on that ice. I have ZERO doubt that your work ethic…(while that doesn’t translate to practicing spelling words without a fight 😂) it is the reason you fight so hard for everything! I have ZERO doubt that you will do great things in the future on and off the ice.
I can’t wait to see how my new role as “Hockey Mom” progresses over the next few years. Parenting boys is for sure NOT for the faint of heart but I wouldn’t want it any other way!
